Alley Cat

Cercis canadensis
Cercis canadensis Alley Cat leaves

Alley Cat is a new Redbud variety.  It features dark pink pea-shaped flowers, which are borne on bare branches in April, before the leaves.

The main attraction is the very large rounded leaves, which are the size of a hand.  When they emerge the leaves are a rosy / dark green but as spring progresses they are transformed with large abstract patches of white.
