While most crab-apples have single-flowers, Malus Pink Perfection is unusual for having double-flowers - the flowers are made up of a much larger number of petals, with an almost fabric-like texture. This gives the blossom greater intensity, similar to the ornamental flowering cherries.
The tree is of medium-size, with an upright spreading form. We sometimes have dwarf patio forms of this variety.
Malus 'Pink Perfection' is resistant to most diseases, and was throught to be resistant to scab but seems to have minor susceptibility to leaf scab.
There are very few crab-apples with the benefit of double or semi-double flowers, but they share a common disadvantage in that they tend to be poor pollinators of other apple trees - so they should be chosen primarily for their strong ornamental qualities.
Pink Perfection was developed at Princeton Nurseries in the USA in the 1960s. It is a cross between Malus Katherine and Malus Almey. A sister variety, Malus Snowcloud was developed at the same time, and features semi-double white flowers.

Trees should reach their mature height after about 10 or more years.
We may also have 1-year bare-root trees of this variety - they are not shown here.
We list more than 40 different crab-apple trees. Choosing can be difficult! See our article explaining the different characteristics of crab-apple trees which will help you narrow down the selection.
