History

Trompenburg is named after the place where it was raised - the Trompenburg Arboretum, in Rotterdam.

Trompenburg is sometimes categorised in the 'Elegans' sub-group of Acer palmatum. These varieties usually have deeply cut 7-lobed leaves and an upright growth habit.
