Field Maple

Acer campestre
Field Maple has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit

The Field Maple is often overshadowed by more exotic Acers, but makes a fine large specimen tree. It can also be used to form tall hedges.

Like many other maple species the autumn leaf colours are a particular feature.

Clusters of dull yellow - green flowers are produced in spring. They have little ornamental value but are very attractive to bees because they produce a lot of nectar.

Winged seeds are produced in autumn.
