Rose Queen

Sorbus

Rose Queen is a small upright-growing rowan tree. Its main feature is the abundant clusters of dark-pink / red berries. These contrast attractively with the dark green pinnate serrated leaves in the late summer and early autumn, and continue to hang on the tree long after the leaves have fallen.

Rose Queen also has good red and orange autumnal leaf colours.

History

Rose Queen is a hybrid seedling of Sorbus commixta 'Embley' and Sorbus monbeigii, with the latter being perhaps the dominant influence (particularly in the berry colour).  It was raised in the 1960s at the Hillier Nursery in the UK.
